Why in so many instances, does there seem to be such a focus on lineage and who was given what land...that sort of thing. If I'm being honest that's stuff I'll never remember :)😮
Something that I have noticed while reading Genesis closely is how Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had the amazing tradition of setting up alters. Those are ways of saying that "I am where I am because the Lord has been with me." Today as we read in Genesis, we can see that, when Jacob left Paddan Aram and arrived at Schechem, and after setting up his tent, he built the alter, and this was not his last one. These men left the example, whenever a new chapter comes into our lives we must always seek the Lord and honor Him, because it is by his Grace and Love that he has us where we are.
I love how the Bible links together so perfectly! Today we read about Noah walking with God and building the ark. God told him to put just one door in the side to enter the ark and survive the world-wide flood that destroyed everything. Then we read about Jesus in Matthew. Here He is, THE way THE truth and THE life! Yes, THE door! He does everything right, everything according to God's perfect plan. We couldn't do it, so He did! What an awesome God! Let's continue to Psalms, where David reminds us that God is a rescuer and the ultimate victor. Yes, we were hopelessly defenseless, but Jesus rescued us! Proverbs wraps this day up nicely by reminding us to turn from evil company, kind of like Enoch and Noah who walked in fellowship with God.
Jesus is Victor!
